GBF STEM Collab’s “ILAW in Action” Served as DepEd’s Official INSET 2026

Around 124,000 teachers nationwide joined the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation (GBF) STEM Collab's three-day webinar series, ILAW in Action: Design and Deliver Effective Lessons through Explicit Instruction, held on September 10–12, 2026.

GBF STEM Collab’s “ILAW in Action” Served as DepEd’s Official INSET 2026

The free webinar series served as this year’s official In-Service Training (INSET) of the Department of Education (DepEd), through the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), providing teachers with practical strategies to strengthen lesson planning and classroom instruction.

Beyond individual participation, schools across the country also organized watch parties, bringing teachers together to learn, exchange insights, and reflect on how they could apply the strategies in their own classrooms.

Strengthening Lesson Planning Through the ILAW Framework

The webinar series focused on integrating Explicit Instruction, an evidence-informed teaching approach, into DepEd's ILAW Lesson Planning Framework (Intentions, Learning Experiences, Assessment, and Ways Forward).

The webinar series also featured expert speakers from the Department of Education (DepEd) Central Office, including Jerome Hilario, Supervising Education Program Specialist for Reading, and Gerson Abesamis, Director of the Bureau of Learning Delivery. Bringing their expertise and perspectives on teaching and learning, the speakers helped deepen participants’ understanding of effective lesson planning and instructional practices, connecting the webinar discussions to the realities of classroom teaching.

The sessions covered understanding and applying the ILAW Framework, implementing Explicit Instruction through the I Do, We Do, You Do sequence, managing lesson pacing and learner engagement, and providing effective feedback to improve teaching practices.

Through classroom scenarios, lesson analysis, and practical activities, teachers gained strategies they could apply as they prepared for the second term of the school year.

Bringing DepEd INSET 2026 Into School Communities

One notable aspect of the webinar series was how teachers brought the learning experience into their own schools.

Through school-based watch parties, educators participated in the sessions alongside their colleagues, creating opportunities for collaborative learning and professional reflection.

The series also reached 80,000 CPD recipients nationwide, reinforcing its role in making accessible, quality professional development available to Filipino educators.
