CCTV Privacy Notice

This CCTV Privacy Notice explains how Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, Inc. (“Organization” , “we”, “our”, or “us”) collects, uses, stores, and protects personal data through our Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173), its Implementing Rules and Regulations, and applicable issuances of the National Privacy Commission (NPC).

Personal Data We Collect

We may collect and process the following personal data through CCTV systems installed within our premises:

  • Images
  • Video recordings
  • Date and time stamps
  • Location footage
  • Related incident recordings

Purposes of Processing

Personal data collected through CCTV systems may be processed for the following legitimate purposes:

  • Security and safety monitoring
  • Incident investigation
  • Protection of personnel, visitors, assets, and property
  • Prevention and detection of unauthorized activities
  • Compliance with organization policies and legal obligations
  • Support for investigations and lawful requests of authorities

Legal Basis of Processing

The processing of personal data through CCTV systems is based on the Organization’s legitimate interests in maintaining the security, safety, and protection of its personnel, visitors, facilities, systems, and assets, as well as compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Access and Disclosure

Access to CCTV recordings is restricted to specifically authorized personnel with legitimate business need on a need-to-know basis and subject appropriate security controls.

CCTV recordings may only be disclosed:

  • When required by law;
  • Upon lawful order of competent authorities;
  • For legitimate investigation purposes; or
  • As otherwise permitted under applicable laws and regulations.

CCTV recordings are not publicly disclosed, sold, or shared for marketing purposes.

Retention Period

CCTV recordings are retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes stated above, unless a longer retention period is required for investigations, legal proceedings, regulatory requirements, or other lawful purposes.

  • Standard CCTV retention period: 30 Days

Security Measures

The Organization implements reasonable and appropriate technical, organizational, and physical security measures to protect CCTV recordings against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, misuse, loss, or destruction. These measures may include:

  • Restricted access controls
  • Password-protected systems
  • Monitoring and logging mechanisms
  • Secure storage environments
  • Authorized extraction procedures

All access and extraction activities are logged and subject to periodic review.

Your Rights as a Data Subject

Subject to applicable laws and regulations, you may exercise your rights under the Data Privacy Act of 2012, including:

  • Right to be informed
  • Right to access
  • Right to object
  • Right to erasure or blocking
  • Right to damages
  • Right to lodge a complaint with the NPC

Requests relating to CCTV recordings shall be subject to applicable laws, security considerations, rights of other individuals, technical feasibility, and lawful Organization policies.

Reasonable Expectation of Privacy

The Organization installs CCTV systems only in areas where monitoring is necessary and appropriate for legitimate security and safety purposes. CCTV systems are not intentionally placed in areas where individuals have a reasonable expectation of privacy such as restrooms, changing rooms, prayer rooms, or other similar areas.
